Man Shows Up for Date in West Palm Beach, Gets Robbed Instead

A man met a 5' 7" blond in a bikini at a resort by the pool. She gave him her number and told him that they could go out on a date.

Later that evening, the man drove to a gated West Palm Beach community, where he was to meet her at an apartment, Unit 305. When the man approached the door, he was taken by surprise when he was attacked.

One suspect was arrested by West Palm Beach police in connection to the Sunday night robbery, however, the blonde and another accomplice are still at large, the Sun Sentinel reports.

The day's events began to unfold on Sunday around 4 p.m. at a resort located in Palm Beach Shores.

The victim was a 39-year-old man from West Virginia. He emerged from the pool and stepped into a hot tub, which is where he met the woman. The pair hit it off and they agreed to go on a date. The victim gave the blonde his phone number.

Later that evening, the woman called him to confirm their date. She then texted him the address of where she could be picked up: Grand Isle apartments in the 4100 block of North Haverhill Road, Unit 305.

When he arrived at the apartment complex and phoned the woman through a call box at the gate, the woman from the pool instructed him to pull through the gate, according to a police report.

He parked his car and went to Unit 305 on the second floor. As the door opened, he was pushed into the apartment. While it's unclear as to whether the woman from the hot tub was in the apartment, two other people were there, one of which was a man who was dressed as a woman.

One of the robbers ordered the victim to empty his pockets, and they threatened to kill him. After he handed over about $120 and his iPhone, they kicked him out of the apartment, said the police.

The victim ran to his vehicle, drove off and called the police. He later showed the officers where the robbery occurred and was able to identify one of the robbers as G. Russell, 23, of West Palm Beach from a photo lineup. It was Russell's apartment.

Russell is facing kidnapping and robbery charges. He was arrested on Monday at about 3 a.m. and was being held in Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $21,000 bail.
